Projects often begin with a feeling or observation and develop through material exploration into physical form. Scale, repetition, material and light are used to create atmosphere and change how a space feels. The work is decorative, although it would not usually be considered decoration as such. There is a theatrical quality—not as spectacle, but in the considered staging of form, light and movement. Each project responds to its setting and is developed in dialogue with clients, architects, engineers and specialist fabricators.

Before founding SophieNielsenWorks, I co-founded Studio Roso, developing installations and sculptural works for international cultural and commercial clients over 18 years.
That experience shaped how I approach scale, collaboration and the relationship between a project and the place it inhabits.
